Catena Wall Clock with Bike Chain but Price Tag of Gold

There is no dearth of absurd ideas in the world. The wall clock by Catena is one such example where the clock don’t use any hands or digital display and instead rely on Bike chain with only digits for Hours attached to them which in turn revolves around a thick metal perimeter. This absurd idea would have made sense to me if i have not been given a shock by its price tag. Can you guess that this Catena bike chain wall clock comes with a price tag of $2300.

Designed by Andreas Dober for Germany’s Anthologie Quartett, the Cantena (Latin for “chain”) is hard to sell gadget. After coming across the price tag, i had to give a second look to the clock to try to find out something that makes it special but i have failed in my attempts and i leave it to our readers to enlighten us with any thing that can justify this price tag?
