China market search engine revenue has gone down by 10.6% in the first quarter of 2009 as compared to the fourth quarter, 2008. However, the year on year (YoY) the revenues witnessed an increase of 47.9%. Search Engine total revenue for Q1, 2009 in Chinese search engine market stands at 1.37 billion yuan ($200 million).
Baidu is still the top ranked search engine with maximum share of the total revenue generated by Chinese Search Engines. Baidu earned 59% of the total revenues while Google China was second with 30.6% of the revenues.
It is worth mentioning here that Google is constantly increasing its market share in China over the last few quarters. Seems Baidu is going to have a rough ride in the coming years. Below is the breakup of the Chinese market leading search engines based on their revenue shares.
