SpellO – A Program to Find Typos and Spelling Mistakes on Websites

by MJK on June 27, 2009

If you want to check your website or blog for spelling mistake, your traditional spell checkers will not be very helpful. Spell checkers installed in Microsoft Word and Wordpress etc only identify spelling mistakes and typos while you are writing the post. Once the post is published, you can not check for errors on the published page. However, SpellO helps you solve this problem as it will find out spelling mistakes and typos in the websites whenever you browse them.

The SpellO program is written in C# language and it uses two other open source products:

1) NCrawler: http://ncrawler.codeplex.com – A well-designed flexible web site crawler. Ncrawler supports crawling and extracting multiple file types.

2) NHunspell: http://nhunspell.sourceforge.net – An open source Spell checker program that is used by google and mozilla browser. Nhunspell supports multiple languages.

Currently the program only supports HTML and its future enhancements include support for pdf and other file formats.
