130,000 iPhone 4 Pre Orders in 13 hours at Korea – wow!

by dave on August 19, 2010

9to5Mac reported via koreaherald that Korea’s exclusive iPhone carrier KT, has received 130,000 pre orders for iPhone 4 in first 13 hours as the pre-ordering started. iPhone 4′s launch in Korea is being executed by KT which started its pre-orders via its web site and 2900 retail stores across Korea.

KT’s web servers witnessed the similar response as experienced in US and other countries that it went down crashing, not holding up the rush of pre-orderers. This left many people not been able to complete their orders. The iPhone 4 response for pre-ordering is much better as compared to iPhone 3GS in Korea that only received 14,500 on first day of pre-ordering.

The response for pre-orders for iPhone seems overwhelming this time as according to Fortune the Samsung Galaxy S Android phone sold 300,000 units in its first 19 days on sale in Korea. That was double but time taken was too much as compared to iPhone 4.

The exact date for iPhone 4 launch in Korea is not known yet but it is expected to be in consumers’ hands somewhere in September.
