Create Custom Comic Books with Apple’s New Invention

US patent and Trademark revealed that Apple has made a patent for the following application. The application entitled “Automatically Generating a Book Describing a User’s Videogame Performance”. Now this would allow user’s to make their own Comic Books by capturing data from a game i.e. screenshots, pictures and turn this data into a book or comic book. The user can than share this newly created book with family and friends and can also use it comercially.

We have seen our the past few years gamers trying to tell their stories , specially if you look at Game movies posted on youtube. Have a look at this video for instanc of GTA 4.

The overall concept of this invention is really exciting as recent games becomes more and more complex, with deep character customization , some game offers game face and you can change your avatar. In addition some of the more recent games even gives you the ability to make moral decision which would affect the ending of the story.

The patent further reads;

Automatically Generating a Book Describing a User’s Videogame Performance. However, after completion of the videogame, the user’s interaction with the game (and any story presented in the game) is complete. Further, the user may be unable to directly access the saved game file to view any data recorded throughout the game.

Apple Insider did show this one snapshot , how game images can be altered to make a comic book;

The statment further reads;

The recorded data may include character information, dialogue from the videogame, and results and metrics reflecting the performance of the user in the videogame. The recorded data may be inserted into a narrative data structure and have pregenerated text. In some embodiments, the recorded data may be used as the basis for selecting among a plurality of pregenerated text.

The users can purchase a physical copy of their own, customized comic book. The application describes a method to send the publication off to a server for printing.
