Download and Install FRF84B Froyo testing build for your Motorola Droid

by dave on June 30, 2010

Previously a test build for Motorola Droid was pushed to selected group of tester but now it has been been leaked for download (for everyone). The build, marked as FRF84B, is not an official one, but it’s about as close as you can get without an update getting pushed over the air to your device.

Note that you will have to root your device first in order to install this ROM. So if you haven’t or have no such plans to hack into your device’s software you’ll still have to wait till Verizon and Motorola push the release through official channels.

Directions to install Froyo test build:

  • Download the FRF84B-Released.zip file to your SD card from this link.
  • Go to ROM Manager and choose “Install ROM from SD card.”
  • Go to the location where you just saved the downloaded file.
  • Tap on the file.
  • Check the box to create a backup. You know why backup is always important
  • No need to wipe data and cache if coming from another Froyo ROM.
  • Allow your phone to boot into recovery and work some magic.
  • First reboot could take some time so be patient.
  • You’re done! Enjoy!
