Opera 10.6 Beta – Preview Details and Download

Opera much anticipated Opera 10.6 Beta has just been released to the public as shared by TC. The new Opera 10.6 beta brings a lot of new and exciting features including fresh UI, Geolocation support, WebM support for HTML5 beside the biggest factor of speed i.e 50% faster then its predecessor. The Opera addition comes at a time when browser wars are just heating up.

Geolocation

Opera 10.6 beta browser can now locate you based on your internet connection type and provide you customized options suiting your geo location. This option is long awaited and hence Opera has finally done it.

Online video

According to TC, Opera 10.60 now boasts support for open video format WebM, built right into the browser. Not much of a surprise, since Opera – along with Google and Mozilla – is behind the royalty-free video codec project.

HTML5 Appcache and Web Workers

Appcache is one new and emerging tech thing. Appcache basically lets you use various apps, such as word processor, image editor, spreadsheets and more, in your Web browser even when offline. Web developers can now also use HTML5 Web Workers for doing heavy calculations without slowing down the user’s browsing experience.

Search suggestions

Opera 10.60 beta search suggestions for selected providers help you enter queries more easily to find more of the results you seek.

User interface changes

Thumbnails for tabs have now been replaced with icons, and there are new graphics for Speed Dial, tab previews and the Opera menu button. Opera 10.5x final has been skipped, but all its new features will be included in Opera 10.60. This includes private browsing, improved KDE and Gnome skinning, and much more.

According to the beta product landing page, the browser should be released for Windows, Mac and Linux simultaneously this Summer.
