My favorite Motorola Droid X is almost there to get an official update of Froyo 2.2. Currently Motorola Droid X for Verizon is running Android 2.1 but we’re all expecting a new update may be this weekend or the coming week. Timeline aside, this is sure that it will be coming sooner or later.
Meanwhile there was an unofficial leaked Froyo for Droid X was found in the wild couple of days ago. A user, named chaluxedeluxe at Android central forum found it buggy (well there were plenty of others like him) and downgraded to 2.1. But the lock screen for Froyo got his attention and he created a framework-res.apk for 2.1 that has the exact same lock screen look of 2.2.
Here it is: you can download it from Megaupload.
Here we put the instructions for beginners with thanks from chaluxedeluxe:
**Phone must be rooted and only for Droid X on 2.1
0. Put this .apk file on the root of your sd card.
