Apple recently updated iOS 4.0.1 to iOS 4.0.2 to patch the PDF exploit used in the JailbreakMe. So now you can not Jailbreak your iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod touch 3G / 2G and iPad with JailbreakMe if its on iOS 4.0.2. However, you don’t need to worry much if you have iPhone 3G or an iPod Touch 2G (non-MC model), you can jailbreak it using the existing version of Redsn0w. Just follow few steps guide given below to jailbreak iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G on iOS 4.0.2 using Redsn0w.
Step 1: As usual, first you have to download iOS 4.0.2 for your version of iPhone and iPod touch from here [iOS 4.0.1]
Step 2: Now update the latest firmware using the IPSW file just downloaded via iTunes 9.2.1.
Step 3: Start Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 (Download Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 for Windows , Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 for Mac) and point it to iOS 4 (Final Version), and not iOS 4.0.2 firmware file to proceed with the jailbreak.
Step 4: Once its done click on “Install Cydia” and press “Next”.
Step 5: Go into recovery mode and before that make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer before you click “Next”.
Step 6: Connect your device in recovery mode by pressing the Power and home button continuously.
If the above steps are followed correctly, you will come across a screen where you will have to quickly hold “Power” button and then while holding the “Power” button, you will have to hold “Home” button too. After few seconds just release “Power” button but still keep holding “Home” button until installation process begins. The installation process will move ahead itself and you have to sit back and relax. The iPhone or iPod will restart automatically once the installation is complete and the phone is jailbroken.
