Comex released a universal jailbreak for all iDevices (iOS 4.0,4.0.1). To use this jailbreak solution called JailbreakMe, you need to have a Safari browser. The JailbreakMe exploits a little known PDF vulnerability in Safari browser to hack the iPhone OS. Now the million dollar question is that other hackers can exploit the same vulnerability to insert malicious software via e mail or the browser. How PDF Loading Warner Works?
cdevwill member from the chronic dev-team has released a small utility software called PDF Loading Warner. The PDF Loading Warner will pop up an alert when ever you visit any malicious website that try to exploit this PDF exploit on your iDevice. You must cancel the execution of the code that the site or any other source try to install on your iDevice. However, if you are downloading any file or code from a trust source, you can click on “Load” to allow it to proceed. Otherwise always press “Cancel”
Installation Guide for PDF Loading Warner
The installation of PDF Loading Warner is very simple.
Step 1: Make sure your iDevice is jailbroken and on WiFi or 3G network.
Step 2: Once done, launch Cydia from your iDevice and search for “PDF Loading Warner”.
Step 3: Install PDF Loading Warner and restart the springboard after the installation.
Step 4: Now you’ll be warned every time any site trying to inject malicious code in form of pdf file.
Consider your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad as a secure device, at least for this specific vulnerability.
