Set Movie as Desktop Wallpaper via VLC

[HOW TO] How often you have experienced this situation: you’re watching a movie and constantly being buzzed by your friends or girlfriend on IMs….Well this may be a rare situation but you can still accommodate anyone if you want to watch movie and at the same time do something else – put the movie as desktop wallpaper. Movie will keep playing as the desktop background and you can do anything on top of it.

Not quite many may know about this feature in VLC —if you go to VLC’s preferences and then click the Video button, you’ll have the see the output type where you can choose different options. Instead of default option, choose DirectX video output. Now Close VLC and restart it. You’ll observe that under “Video” in the toolbar, the “DirectX Wallpaper” option is now enabled!

This puts your video or movie as a desktop background so you can watch it full-screen, while you do work on top of it. ou can minimize the VLC player and watch the movie in background but if it is not working you can do it in a non geeky way: squeeze it and resize it real small and hide it in one corner . It worked all smooth even though you can get distracted if you have a plethora of icons on your desktop.
