Originally made for tea timer, Steep.it tells how long various kinds of tea should you steep for and has different ways for you to set a timer. From the main page, you can type a variety of commands into the “Start Steeping” box. You can enter the number of minutes, the number of seconds, or the type of tea you’re brewing into the box and it will set the time accordingly.
Now that you use it regularly, you can simply type the URL with the associated command to get the same results. Using the URL steep.it/green, for example, is the same as entering in 1 minute (the suggested time for green tea). You can obviously try out different tea variants with their steep time e.g steep.it/black or steep.it/white or whichever you like. If you need a timer for 5 minutes, you can write steep.it/5minutes. If you need something in seconds, your command will be steep.it/30.
Once the timer starts, browser window becomes a count down clock with background slowly turning darker. The screen changes from tan to dark brown as the timer counts down. When the time finishes it sounds a ringing bell. Steep.it is a free service and doesn’t require any registration.
