WordPress lovers, its here! The early beta version of WordPress 3.0 has been launched. The announcement came late night by UX Lead, Jane Wells, at Automattic (the parent company of WordPress.com. The announcement contained new features that are to be tested out for the popular blogging software.
The important aspect of the release is merger of WordPress and WordPress MU (multi-user), remember that MU allows multiple blogs to be operated from one installation. In WordPress 3.0, these two are fully merged. If you are planning to test it out; dont forget to read out the instructions before you end up in wilderness!
This early beta is an invitation to test many features that are still in process and will be finalized once the testing feedback arrives.
What does this early beta offers to test??
# New default theme, Twenty Ten, including the custom background and header options.
# Custom Post Type functionality has been beefed up. It’s really easy to add new types, so do that and see how it looks!
# WordPress MU users should test the multiple sites functionality to make sure nothing broke during the merge.

I’m so much excited with the launch of Wordpress 3.0. Though since it’s beta release I’ll wait for a while to get the beta 2 and will install it on my live site.
My plan is to put all my Wordpress blogs into one single MU, since I can use one plugin in all the blogs.
This will save lots of resources for my blog.
