Now that the iPad 2 has finally been released, the blogosphere and the rumors churning sites are busy anticipating the release date for Apple iPad 3. The race for releasing iPad3 must have started inside the Apple and all the focus would be on iPhone 5 and iPad 3. That is one reason, the blogosphere is following the same zeal with their rumors.
The iPad 3 or 3rd Generation iPad 3 is expected to arrive in September, 2011. Now the following sentence is the typical rumor that we all hear. However, the source of such rumors is still same i.e John Gruber, the blogger at Daring Fireball and the source of most of the insider news related to the Apple product releases. In one of his blog post, John followed his usual style of hinting at the upcoming product in light tone. However, the readers now readily pick such hints. According to the John Gruber post on the HP Touchpad, he said the following:
The software looks great, it really does, but: Planned availability this summer.
Summer feels like a long time away. If my theory is right, they’re not only going to be months behind the iPad 2, but if they slip until late summer, they might bump up against the release of the iPad 3. And not only did they announce this with a distant ship date, they did it with no word on pricing.
(Maybe the “Palm” brand isn’t dead? The TouchPad page is hosted at palm.com. They’ve got pages for the Veer and Pre 3, too. None of these three products are shipping. And still no WebOS phone without a hardware keyboard.)
The above was more then a hint and hence the blogosphere started buzzing with the word “iPad 3″. Sites that have extremely high followers base like MacRumors and cnet News picked the story and further spread the word on the Apple iPad 3. In a story on iPad 3, cnet galvanize the accuracy of John Gruber words in the following manner:
The mere fact that Gruber–who has built a reputation for having good Apple sources (which are quite hard to come by unless you’re The Wall Street Journal, to which Apple seems to like to leak stories)–uttered the words “iPad 3″ set off an immediate wave of speculation.
The TechCrunch team also wanted to get a slice of the Rumor Mill Pizza and claimed to have independent verification of the same news. However, i still contest this claim since Apple has always followed a pattern to release the latest version of it’s products. Newer versions of iPhones are released around WWDC every year while iPod’s are generally released in September. Now iPad was launched in April and it’s updated version iPad 2 was released in March and hence the next time it may be March or April and not September, 2011.
Anyways, we have kept our fingers crossed and eagerly awaiting any new updates (aka rumors).
