Samsung and Sprint officially announced the smartphone that takes its inspiration from being Green. This upcoming mobile phone in the U.S. is made of bio-plastic material.

This ecologically fit phone, Samsung Reclaim, is made from 40 percent of bio-plastics, that is extracted from corn. Wow, that’s amazing! On top of this, the Reclaim is also equipped with eco-centric packaging and accessories; the outer and inner boxes are made from fully reccycled material. It also accompanies an Energy Star approved charger with visual alarm when the phone is fully charged. It is available in 2 colors: sky blue and earth green

Sprint is launching Reclaim starting 16th of August so visit a nearby Sprint store or visit their website. A review at pcworld site states following info on its Green aspect:

In part composed of corn-based bio-plastics, the Reclaim is 80 percent recyclable. Samsung configures it for quick access to popular social media sites and to environment-related Web content. And the company donates $2 from each sale to the Nature Conservancy’s Adopt an Acre program.

I am liking Samsung strategy on sales for donating petty amount of charity with each special model they bring out. Previously, they announced some proceeds out of revenues from the sale of Mr. Cartoon Branded Samsung Messager will go in to promoting Art.

MetroPCS and Samsung Mobile collaborated with SA Studios Global, a multicultural marketing agency, to offer a limited edition of SCH-r450 labelled as Mr. Cartoon branded Samsung Messager^TM. The LA based tattoo artist Mister Cartoon, Mark Machado, known as Mr. Cartoon, is a Mexican-American tattoo and graffiti artist, who has worked with numerous celebrities including Eminem, Beyonce, director Brian Grazer and most recently Lance Armstrong with Nike for the Livestrong Foundation.

The phone will have all the collection of Mister Cartoon wallpapers, ringtones and animations with additional downloads available from the MetroPCS website. Since it is a limited edition, metroPCS intends to start auction in four days and they have also announced that the revenue from first 10 devices will go to funding community art centers, out-reach programs for at-risk youth, and art supplies for local LA schools.

I have long been hoping for watchphones and i was wondering when some famous brand like Samsung will launch it. Samsung has finally launched its own version of the watchphone labelled Samsung s9110.
The Samsung S9110 Watchphone features a 1.76 inch touchscreen display, a built in speaker phone, Bluetooth 2.1 , a music player, voice recognition and email. The Samsung S9110 Watchphone is really very think and only measures at just 11.98mm thick, and it cost only $640.

The Samsung S9110 Watchphone will be available in France later this month.

Samsung has unveiled six new high speed phones labelled as Samsung Jet phone. The Jet phone is the first to use its Jet engine i.e TouchWiz 2.0, its smart user interface that now supports multi-window browsing and “one-finger” touch, enabling the user to zoom in and out of web browsers, photos and other applications using one finger. The other features of the phone include an 800MHz processor, five megapixel camera, built in GPS, 3.1-inch WVGA AMOLED screen;the WVGA AMOLED screen provides a resolution that is four times higher than a WQVGA screen, WebKit-based Dolfin browser and a host of media features including DNSe & SRS Sound Effect technology for superior sound quality, and DivX and XviD video support for hassel-free video downloading and viewing. Samsung India has launched a first of its kind solar powered mobile phone in India. The phone has been labeled as Samsung Solar Guru (Guru E1107). The phone is expected to be a major hit in the rural areas of India where there is shortage of electricity while the sun shine to its fullest. The extended solar powered batteries of the phone will generate a talktime of 10-15 minutes with one hour of solar charging.  Now the best thing about the phone is that it is targetting the low end of the consumer market and is priced at Rs. 2,799 ($59) so any one can easily afford it. It supports dual GSM bands (900/1800MHz) and includes a 1.52-inches 65K CSTN screen, FM Radio, MP3 ringtones, torch, Mobile Tracker, Fake Call and a 800mAh battery.
Following its introduction in India, the Samsung Solar Guru is being launched in various markets including Europe, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, and Latin America in June 2009.

Samsung has officially announced a brand new 12 megapixel mobile phone. Samsung said the new Pixon12 model would go on sale in Europe later this month, a blow to struggling rival Sony Ericsson, who has been touting a 12 megapixel model since February but will sell it only in the fourth quarter.

Specs & Features:

The phone has a Xenon flash and features a touch auto-focus tracking. According to Samsung the phone has a fast-image saving feature that lets users take the next photo within about two seconds.

In addition to packing a sensor that makes most digital compacts look like 80s Polaroids, the Pixon12 has a 3.1” AMOLED display. It’s also features a full touchscreen interface, throwing it into direct comparison with the iPhone – which could be interesting, given that the iPhone is tipped to be getting a photo quality upgrade with the launch of iPhone OS 3.0. Like other recent high-end Samsung phones, the Pixon12 has 3G over full HSPA and Wi-Fi. Most other specifications aren’t detailed but should include GPS and microSDHC storage.

The lens is 28mm wide angle affair, which Samsung claims will give a better perspective for phone snappers.

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its first Smart Phone ‘Samsung I7500‘ powered by Google Android to take on the battle in the mobile phone arena. The price at this moment is not known however we would be updating for any information.

SPECIFICATION & FEATURES:

Measuring 115 x 56 x 11.9 mm, the phone has a 3.2-inch touchscreen AMOLED display with 480 x 320 pixel HVGA resolution, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and 8GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB.

The mobile offers GPS capabilities, 3.5mm headset jack and a 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7200A CPU. For connectivity, the phone packs 7.2Mbps HSDPA and WiFi. Samsung I7500 is also GSM, GPRS, EDGE and Bluetooth compatible.

Running on Android 1.5 OS, i7500 will support all major Google services, including Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calender, IM and location-based services like Google Maps and Latitude.

Samsung said I7500 will be available in European countries starting from June. The phone joins two other Android-powered handsets from HTC, T-Mobile G1 and HTC Magic.

It can also download and run hundreds of other software apps available either free or for sale in Google’s Android Market applications store. I7500 Android powered smart phone will be available in major European countries starting in June. O2 announced June availability of the I7500, in Germany though from 1st May.
