Seems Intel is having a bad time these days. A week back Intel was fined $1.45 billion by European Union and now the Fujitsu has unveiled its latest cpu which it claims to the be the World Fastest CPU till date. We don’t know how accurate is the claim but lets believe it that it is truly the world fastest cpu till date and go further to check its specs.
Fujitsu claimed the chip is capable of crunching through an astounding 128 Billion computations per second, 2.5 times faster than Intel’s current best performer. This makes Fujitsu the first Japanese firm in a decade to snatch the lead in raw CPU performance.
The little beauty has been labeled as “Venus,” a much sexier name than its rather more nerdy technical moniker “SPARC64 VIIIfx.” The company shrunk the size of each central circuit, thus doubling the number of circuits per chip. The prototype is also energy-efficient and was able to cut power consumption to one-third of the conventional Fujitsu model.
The irony is that it will not be availble in the market in the next few years and hence it will give enough time for its rivals to come out with their own versions to rival it.
